Ranking 40th… Among the 104 people who took the test, the top 20 will secure next year's 'full seed'. Korea, with 10 participants including Lee So-mi and Sung Yu-jin, will be the 8th and second consecutive member to be selected as the top 10 participants.
Jinhee Lim, who won 4 wins this season and became the Korean Ladies Professional Golf Association (KLPGA) Tour's most wins leader, will compete in the final match of the LPGA Tour Qualifying (Q) Series starting on the 1st. Lim Jin-hee (40th), who has the highest world ranking among the 104 participants, will challenge to pass the top ranking for the second consecutive year as a Korean player.
Lim Jin-hee (25), this season's Korean Ladies Professional Golf (KLPGA) Tour's most wins leader (4 wins), is challenging to 'pass the top' in the final round of the American Ladies' Professional Golf (LPGA) Tour Qualifying (Q) Series starting on the 1st. If Lim Jin-hee takes the senior class this year, Korea will produce a senior for the eighth time in a row since Pak Se-ri (46) in 1997 and for the second consecutive year following Yoo Hae-ran (22) last year.
A total of 104 players will participate in the final round of the Q Series held at Magnolia Grebo Golf Club in Mobile, Alabama, USA. Among them, the player with the highest world ranking is Lim Jin-hee (40th). Last year's senior Yoo Hae-ran, currently ranked 30th in the world, was ranked 50th at the time of the Q series.
Jinhee Lim, who has been training locally since the 22nd of last month, said, “As she adapts well to the American environment, she is trying not to lose her good pace this season. “If I focus on what I can do well and make fewer mistakes, good results will follow,” she said. Jinhee Lim finished her season on this year's KLPGA Tour with a green hitting percentage of 73.5% and her stroke average of 70.99 (3rd place). Jinhee Lim said, “She has dreamed of challenging the American stage since last year, but she has not been able to act actively. “I prepared step by step with the intention of definitely taking on the challenge this year,” she said. “It’s my first time, but I think it’s my last chance, so I’ll play my best and wait for the results.”
Lim Jin-hee, like last year's Q Series senior Yoo Hae-ran, is aiming to win the LPGA Tour Rookie of the Year title. Jinhee Lim said, “She doesn’t necessarily want to win any competition. However, I think she would be really grateful if she received Rookie of the Year,” she said. The reason Lim Jin-hee wants to win the Rookie of the Year title is because she wants to make up for her poor debut season on the KLPGA Tour.
Jinhee Lim played in 26 events in 2018, her first year on the KLPGA Tour, but she only had one top 10 finish. Following her rookie season (64th place), she did not make it into the top 60 in money rankings in 2019 (84th place) the following year, and she fell to the second division tour in 2020. She returned to the top tour through a seed match and only tasted her first win on the KLPGA Tour in 2021. Jinhee Lim said, “At that time, there were so many things that were lacking that I couldn’t pinpoint which part was lacking. “It was really hard for her, but she persevered with the belief that if she kept building quietly, it would be filled,” she said.
Jinhee Lim plans to focus on increasing driving distance this winter to avoid repeating the same pain in her debut season on the LPGA Tour. Jinhee Lim recorded an average drive distance of 243 yards (31st) on the KLPGA tour this season. It is a distance equivalent to the top 150 on the LPGA Tour. He also said, “On the LPGA tour, physical strength is more important than on the domestic stage, so I will also improve my physical strength.”
Along with Jin-hee Lim, 10 Korean players, including So-mi Lee (24), Yu-jin Seong (23), and Jeong-min Hong (21), will participate in the final game of the Q Series. If you place in the top 20 in the final round, you will receive a full seed to participate in all competitions on the LPGA regular tour next year. Those ranked 21st to 45th receive a conditional seed that allows them to participate in the first division tournament while playing in the Epson Tour, the second division tour.
So far, the final match of the Q Series has been played over 2 weeks for a total of 8 rounds, but this year it will be held over 6 days and 6 rounds.
