South Korea's Kyung-hoon Lee slipped to the bottom of the leaderboard after the third round of the PGA Tour's Worldwide Technology Championship ($8.2 million purse).
Lee made three birdies but had a bogey and a triple bogey for a 1-over-par 73 in the third round at El Cardonal (par-72, 7,452 yards) in Los Cabos, Mexico, on Friday (TU).
With a median score of 6-under 210, the South Korean dropped from a tie for 40th the day before to a tie for 67th.
Lee, who has four top-10 finishes in the 2022-2023 season, started the tournament at 5-under-par and tied for 21st on the first day at the course designed by "Golf Emperor" Tiger Woods (USA), but has slipped in the standings on back-to-back days.
After three rounds, the gap between seventh place (15-under par 201) and 21st place (12-under par 204) is nine strokes and six strokes, respectively, so a strong final day will be required for a top finish.
At the top of the leaderboard are Matt Kucher (USA) and Camilo Villagas (Colombia), who are at 19-under par 197.
Villagas, the second-round leader, shaved three strokes off his score, while Kucher, two strokes back in second place, dropped five strokes to share the lead.
Kucher looked to be in control after shooting 10-under-par through 14 holes on the day, but he struggled with his shot at the 15th (par-4) and made a quadruple bogey, dropping a shot on the next hole (par-3) to enter the final round tied for the lead.
Kuchar, who has nine career PGA Tour victories, will be looking to add to his trophy cabinet in about four years and 10 months after the Sony Open in January 2019, while Villagas, who has four wins, will be hoping to end a winless drought that has stretched back more than nine years since the Wyndham Championship in August 2014.
Eric van Rooyen (SOU) is one shot back in third place (18-under 198), while Justin Seo is tied for fourth (17-under 199) after three rounds with Will Gordon (USA) and Mackenzie Hughes.
Michael Kim is tied for seventh (15-under 201), Doug Kim is tied for 17th (13-under 203) and James Hahn (USA) is tied for 37th (10-under 206).
Cameron Young (USA), the highest-ranked player in the field at the tournament at No. 16, was unable to cut any strokes on the day and finished in a tie for 70th place (5-under par 211).
