Dong has already made the trip to Beijing in order to make preparations for better performance of his duties as a member.

As a CPPCC National Committee member for the educational sector, as well as the President of Sichuan International Studies University (SISU), Dong’s proposals mainly focus on topics including improving the language service capabilities of the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle, cultivating interdisciplinary, international communication talents and strengthening higher foreign language education in the west to promote the construction of inland opening-up highlands. He has been working on these issues for quite a long time, doing onsite research, holding seminars, and seeking cooperation at home and abroad.

Opportunities under the construction of the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle
As the president of Sichuan International Studies University (SISU), Dong Hongchuan proposed that the mission of a university is to train talents for the country. The construction of the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle is not only the “No. 1 project” of Chongqing but also a major national and regional strategy. It is closely integrated with the construction of inland opening-up highlands. As a member of the circle, SISU not only witnesses the historical moment but also faces a rare opportunity provided by such a strategy.

“As an international studies university, SISU has always regarded the training of foreign-related talents as one of its educational goals; SISU has the confidence in providing the needed talents in the fields of regional studies, international communication, foreign-related business and trade, and foreign legal systems,” Dong said. He believed SISU was capable of shouldering this task and helping promote the construction of the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle.

Dong also suggested that the language service capabilities of the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle need to be improved by strengthening policy guarantees and promoting professional construction.

Cultivating interdisciplinary, international communication talents
China will strengthen its international communications capabilities, make international communications more effective, and strive to strengthen China’s voice in international affairs to be commensurate with the country’s composite national strength and international status. This requires breaking barriers between departments, universities and government, universities and businesses, and integrating innovative talents in foreign languages, Chinese studies, communication studies and information technology, etc.

“Reforming the traditional training mode and formulating a scientific talent training plan can also help to cultivate interdisciplinary, international communication professionals who are creative and skilled in languages, Chinese studies, communication, and information technology,” Dong said, “International communication demands talents with global vision and practical skills, which means we should establish cooperation with governments and media to provide our students with opportunities to get out of the classroom and improve themselves from hands-on learning and real experiences,” he added.

Promoting the high-quality development of education
China will continue to prioritize the development of education, build China’s self-reliance and strength in science and technology, and rely on talent to pioneer and propel development, according to the report to the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC). Cultivating new successors who keep in mind the utmost interests of the nation, who have the courage to take responsibility and who could aim high and achieve big things,” Dong said. First Chinese Director's Singapore Local Film to Premiere at Singapore Film Festival
#tourism
[a]https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ichongqing.info%2Ftourism%2F[/a]
Chongqing - Chinese film director Grace Wu's feature film Seven Days is set to premiere as the opening film at the Singapore Chinese Film Festival on April 28, and the film will be released in Singaporean cinemas on May 12. Grace Wu, who hails from Chongqing, will be the first Chinese director to shoot a local Singaporean film.

The film follows the journey of Aishi, a spirit who has been wandering the world for 20 years. Aishi accidentally occupies her brother's body and embarks on a seven-day journey of self-discovery. The film is unique in that it is the first Singaporean film to address postnatal depression from a male perspective while also tackling mid-life crisis from a female perspective.

In addition to the storytelling aspect, Seven Days also showcases the unique facets of Singapore. Singapore has been dubbed a country where "East meets West" due to its contemporary modern culture, which combines Asian and European cultures. The film traces back to the first generation of immigrants from southern China who flocked to Singapore to pursue their "Singapore Dreams." As the story unfolds, audiences can explore the local food, scenery, culture, and more, adding depth and uniqueness to the film.

Grace Wu previously worked in business management at an internet company. She said that her interest in filmmaking stemmed from her love of cinema. She took film appreciation classes taught by notable producers and filmmakers in 2019 before completing her student film A Missed Call in 2020. In 2021, she worked with award-winning producer Tan Si En to make her short film Salvation, which traveled to several international short film festivals and won the Best First Time Director (Female) Silver Award at the Independent Shorts Awards in September 2021.

Wu hopes Seven Days will offer something different to Singapore's film market. She believes that films in Singapore usually fall into two extremes: art house or commercial, with few films in between. Wu is excited to explore a new direction with her film and bring something fresh and unique to audiences.

Seven Days is also the first Singaporean film to have its NFT film art collection, which will be available on the largest NFT market, Opensea.

Although the film production process is arduous, it has increased Grace Wu's confidence. She said she would prepare a rural-themed film to showcase the courage and dreams of young people next. Currently, the script has been completed, and there are plans to shoot in Chongqing.

She added that Chongqing is a city with cultural heritage, abundant bustling city life, and rich rural scenery. She will use Chongqing as the location and film in the Chongqing dialect.

(Li Shichen, as an intern, also contributed to the report.)

If you want to know more details of chongqing tourism, please visit our website.
