Mens skin care products have become so prevalent that you can already find a section devoted to them in department stores. And thats a good thing. It reminds you that you should also be taking care of your skin. While exercise, a good diet and a healthy lifestyle help in having great skin, you cannot ignore the fact that skin types play a big part.
When you know what your skin type is, it will be easy for you to pick out the kind of products you should use for your skin care regimen. For the record, these are the five skin types: normal, dry, oily, combination (dry and oily) and sensitive. Sensitive skin usually results in redness, itchiness and sometimes a burning sensation after product use. So whether you have normal, dry, oily or combination skin, you can also have sensitive skin.
Having said that, here are some tips on how to care for your skin so you can start to come up with your own skin care routine:
1. Check the label. If youre already aware of your skin type, you should read the label of the skin care products that you will use on your skin. Cleansers and moisturisers have variants for normal, dry or oily skin. For example, if you have oily skin, find products that have oil free or non-comedogenic on their labels. For sensitive skin, using mild, natural and chemical-free products are the best for you.
2. Wash your face daily and after exercise. Use a facial cleanser and lukewarm water to wash your face. You can wash your face in the morning when you wake up and before going to bed. Wash your face after a workout to remove sweat and dirt from your skin that may clog your pores.

3. How do you shave? If you experience razor burns, bumps and ingrown hairs, you might want to use a single or double-blade razor. Do not stretch your skin tight when you shave. Before you shave, always begin by wetting your skin and hair with warm water to soften it. Use a moisturising shaving cream and do not shave against the grain. Rinse after every swipe of the razor. Change your blade after 5 to 7 shaves to minimise irritation.
4. Moisturise every day. Moisturise your face immediately after every bath, shower or shave while the skin is damp to trap in moisture. This replenishes your face with moisture, especially after shaving as each shave strips moisture from your skin, and reduces the appearance of fine lines, giving you brighter, younger looking skin.
5. Wear sunscreen when going outdoors. Prevent sun damage that can cause wrinkles. When spending a lot of time outdoors, apply sunscreen to all areas exposed to the sun. Use a broad spectrum sunscreen thats water resistant and with SPF 30 or higher.
We hope that these tips help you care for your skin, regardless of your skin type. You might want to check out the skincare products at All About The Man. For sure youll find something thats right for your skin type which you can add to your daily skin care regimen.
