Windows Registry, a databases collection of configuration settings for Microsoft Windows OS, may experience errors on your system. These files commonly store information for hardware, software, preferences, and configurations. You can think of it as DNA for Windows. Some other errors you may face is System hive error including Stop 0xc0000218 {Registry File Failure} UNKNOWN_HARD_ERROR or \SystemRoot\System32\Config\.
There can be multiple causes of the Windows registry. A few are shown below:
A sudden power failure or unexpected shutdown event. You can ensure this, caused by event ID 6008 entries.
Corrupted Files. You have to make sure whether only registry hives are corrupted or other files as well.
Faulty hardware. RAM, processor, cache or disk controller, anything could show the error cause.
During the shutdown process, one or two registries may be corrupted, resulting in a hive written on disk and stopping the computer process.

Start with the Windows Error Checking tool.
Windows Error Checking tool, CheckDisk, is the utility already available in Windows 10. You have to scan your System hard drive using this tool. For it,
Open File Explorer.
Select This PC.
Right-click on a drive to scan.
Click on Properties.
Go to Tools Check Scan drive.
Once the scanning completes, follow shown instructions to resolve the Windows registry error.
Use the SFC /scannow command
Open Command Prompt program, type SFC /scannow and press enter. Scan your Windows system and repair corrupted system files.
Ensure your Windows Processes end before shut down.
Processes in a working state result in conflicts when you shut down your PC. At this moment, your system can stop shutting down. Therefore, ending these Processes is essential. See how to end a process:-
Press Window + X Key.
Open Task Manager.
Find and click Processes.
Select the running process that you want to end.
Click End Task.
CPU should not be in the overclocked situation
Overclocking is running your CPU at a higher speed than the actual one. If this is the current scenario, you may experience issues during the shutdown. You need to undo the overclocking by resetting the BIOS to factory defaults.
Backup and restore registry.
An excellent way to prevent registry error before it happens is by setting up a system restore. You'll need to use Restore Point to complete this process;
In the main menu of the windows search box, open create a restore point.
Click on Create and follow the steps to build a point.
Back up registry files and information.
Now follow step 1 and select System Restore.
Check and update the windows BIOS.
The Basic Input/Output System automatically send you a notification to update. However, you should have check for updates timely. To update BIOS, you need to visit its manufacturer's website and install the latest version.
Use Windows registry cleaner software.
