Microsoft has brought the education version of Minecraft, its blocky game Minecraft to Chromebooks at the right time so that students can return to school.
Available on Monday, Minecraft: Education Edition for Chromebook comes with the same features as the Windows, iPad and Mac versions of the game, and includes multiplayer across platforms, the company said. The version for education is designed to assist educators in teaching everything, from science, technology engineering and math (STEM) to history, language and art. The program has been licensed by thousands of teachers in more than 115 countries, according to Microsoft.
Microsoft announced that the game is now available on Chromebooks and that the latest update features new STEM lessons as well as a "special Minecraft world" created with the American Beekeeping Federation's Kids and Bees Program.
Minecraft: Education Edition for Chromebook requires an Microsoft Account to log in. The game is licensed by schools through Microsoft 365 for Education. However,MINECRAFT SERVERSsaid that it is working to allow users to login using a Google account.
